Del Mar Mesa is a semi-rural community in the northern region of San Diego, California that includes large homes, a resort hotel, and a golf course.
Del Mar Mesa covers a little over 2,000 acres and was developed in the 2000s. There are a variety of floor plans here and lots are at least half an acre each. Because of the 900 acres that are preserved, residents have ten miles of trails for horseback riding, hiking, and biking. This area is still being studied by the San Diego Archaeological Center after a number of artifacts were found and dated to be from 10,000 years ago. This community is bordered by Carmel Valley, Pacific Highlands, Ranch, Los Peñasquitos Canyon, Torrey Highlands, Rancho Peñasquitos, and Torrey Hills. To the north is the Ted Williams Freeway.
Several school districts serve this neighborhood with highly ranked facilities like Sage Canyon School, Carmel Valley Middle School, and Torrey Pines High School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Public universities include the University of California (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) as well as the San Diego Community College District.
The Grand Golf Club features a Tom Fazio designed course, resort style lodging, and a gourmet restaurant in a Mediterranean-style resort. It’s also a short drive to the beaches as well as Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve which covers 2,000 acres of wilderness and protected land.
San Diego is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities.
